Albany Roller Derby offers three roller skating programs, plus an Officials pathway (Referees & NSOs). Program details are below.
We provide skates, helmets, and safety gear for loan at no cost.
We are a registered KIDSPORT Club, which can cover up to $300 per year of children’s sporting costs.
Please apply for your KIDSPORT code and email it to us. We’ll then advise how to complete registration.
Inline skates/blades are not used in any program—roller skates only.
All programs run across a 20-week winter season and are delivered by experienced coaches with:
Level 1 Roller Derby Coaching accreditation (Skate Victoria)
Working With Children Check
First Aid & CPR qualifications

A fun, inclusive beginner program focused on building roller skating skills in a supportive environment.
Non-competitive and non-contact, ideal for first-time skaters learning balance, movement, and control.
Quad skates only. Weekly sessions delivered in a relaxed, encouraging setting. For Ages 8 - 17.
Join a team-based junior roller derby program featuring modified contact and structured gameplay.
Designed for skaters with foundational skills, this pathway develops confidence, teamwork, and safe play. No grading or try out required, just the love of skating.
We follow JRDA Level 1 and 2 Modified Contact. Ages 10 - 17. All genders.
Insurance: $45 annually.
Learn to roller skate and play roller derby in a welcoming, inclusive environment.
We teach foundational skating skills before progressing to gameplay.
Train weekly with opportunities for local, state, and national competition. Played on quad skates only.
All genders welcome. Ages 18+
Learn to officiate roller derby through learning skate skills and self-paced rules learning.
This non-contact role supports gameplay while building confidence on wheels.
Roller skates or rollerblades welcome. Weekly sessions with practical experience included. Ages 16+
Support roller derby without skating by training in essential game operations.
Roles include timing, scoring, tracking penalties, and managing line-ups or scoreboards.
Flexible involvement with self-paced online learning available.
Attend games or scrimmage when you can and build valuable officiating skills. Ages 16+
Be part of the community in a way that suits you.
Contribute as a volunteer, helper, or general supporter and connect with an inclusive, energetic club environment.
Share your existing skills or develop new ones while helping events, teams, and programs thrive.
