Albany Roller Derby offers three roller skating programs and an Officials (Referee/NSO) pathway. See information below about our programs.
We can provide skates, helmets, and safety equipment in all programs for loan for no cost.
We are a registered KIDSPORT Club. This can cover up to $500 per year of kids’ sporting costs.

None of our programs use inline/blades. Please do not wear these to your class. It’s like taking a soccer ball to AFL practice. Yes, it’s a ball, but they move and are used in different ways.
All programs run for a 20-week season over winter. And are led by experienced coaches who hold:
Level 1 in Roller Derby coaching (Skate Victoria)
Working With Children Check
First Aid and CPR qualifications.
If you require financial support with your membership, contact us for instructions on how to proceed with registration.
Transferring skaters from any club are welcome all season. Please contact us for more information.
Supporters are welcome to join all year round!
Junior Learn to Skate
Ages 8 to 17 and all genders are welcome.
Ideal for beginners. Learn to roller skate in a fun and inclusive program. Please note this is not for rollerblades/inline skates.
Non-competitive, Non-contact
Thursdays 5:30pm to 6:30pm
Insurance: $30 annually. To be paid before skating.

Ages 10 - 17 - All genders
Team based - JRDA Level 1 and 2 Contact. Modified contact
This program requires minimum skating skills. If you are unsure which program is suitable for you, don't hesitate to contact us.
Insurance: $45 annually. To be paid before skating.

Ages 18+ and all genders are welcome
Ideal for beginners and experienced skaters. Coached by fun and experienced coaches. Skills and drills each week build up to gameplay.
Learn to roller skate and play roller derby this season!
Thursdays 6:30pm to 8:30pm
Insurance: $90 annually. To be paid before skating.
Referee
Ages 16+ and all genders are welcome.
Learn to skate and become a referee. Non-contact skating is a great option.
Learn skills in a supportive and welcoming environment
Thursdays 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Learn a wide variety of skills: timing the game, tracking penalties, timing penalties, keeping score, operating the scoreboard, and tracking lineups.
NSO’s are an essential member of the club and skills and training is delivered across the season - weekly attendance is not required (but most welcome!)
